Addressing Black Lives Matter
One of the greatest things that I have experienced as a runner and as a fan of the sport is the strength it has to break down barriers. My heroes and the runners that I have shared amazing experiences with come from different countries, backgrounds and races and we are all united in the sheer joy of putting one foot in front of the other.
It has been truly painful to watch the events and injustices of the last couple of weeks and months. Enough is enough. We all must do better.
Even as a small business we have a voice that can help drive positive change. Here at Runderwear we advocate a healthier, more active world and want to promote a mentally and socially more positive world too.
Running is a positive and often transformative experience and as runners, as a community and as a brand, we can do so much more.
We have always had particular focus that running is for everybody, no matter your size, background or ability and we want this to be reflective in everything we do. We’re also actively looking to be even more representative of the running community. Our efforts will focus on what we know, that the running community can help drive positive change to an imperfect world.
This isn’t a trend and we want to use our voice and platform to protect the most vulnerable in our communities. We might get it wrong sometimes, but we are learning and consciously making a change.
We didn’t want to speak out without a plan. As always, actions speak louder than words. Our actions will be positive and we will try to make a difference in any way we can.
This is a marathon, not a sprint - but as runners, we know all about this.
